We invite you to trade, borrow and exchange goods and services within the local community by using an alternative currency rather than money.
LET$ is a community scheme. It is available and useful to anyone who lives and shares in the community.
WHAT IS A LETS SYSTEM?
A LETS System is a community based trading group, supported by its own internal currency, where members exchange skills, services and goods, for points instead of cash.
Each LETS group is autonomous, being run by an annually elected committee of volunteers. This committee meets monthly and all members may have input to this committee by attending any committee meeting.
LETS trading differs from bartering in that, bartering is an exchange between only two people. LETS trading may occur between any members of the group, or members of most other LETS groups in Australia, or world-wide in fact.
Skills and services offered by members are displayed in a Directory that all members are issued with on joining a LETS group.
Transactions and points’ tallies are recorded on a central computer.
LETS is a community based bartering system run by an elected committee of volunteers.
Members may exchange skills such as gardening, hairdressing, house cleaning, computer expertise, car repairs, household maintenance, holiday accommodation or massage, to name just a few, for points, or part points/part cash.
Goods may also be exchanged. Points accrued may be used within the group, or may also be traded with members of other LETS groups in surrounding areas.
