Oh how well the Internet and LETS connections have worked for me in trying to secure accommodation in Perth next year.

Jenny provided me with some email addresses for Perth LETS groups as I was trying to find a house and car to rent for our forthcoming trip to WA.  Our son is an entrant in the 25th Junior Archery Nationals to be held in January 2003 so all of us want to go and cheer him on.

Even though Perth has no accommodation listed in the LETS Accommodation Guide, my email request was posted on the WALETS Notice Board and one of their members responded.  I have been in contact with him ever since, working out details of the rental.

I was really taken aback by the gentleman’s offer to not only let us rent his family home (which also has a pool), but also his car, as he’s planning to be in Tasmania at the time.  Even though he prefers a minimal cash transaction only, we are incredibly delighted to have had such success and to have our needs met.  This venture is going to save us many, many hundreds of dollars and we couldn’t be happier.

All it took was an email to find the right email addresses, one email outlining our request, for that email to be posted on a notice board, and for a kind and generous person to respond.

Garden Watering System + Tanks Installed

In my garden I have been getting a lot of assistance from Peter in installing some water tanks for summer vegetable watering. We now have the big holding tank inserted in concrete, up at the back fence and have also installed the small “catching” one near the house. Peter also helped me buy a pump from a secondhand place for $10, and IT WORKS!! Once the small tank is filled from the roof,  I will be able to pump the water up to the larger tank via hose from one tank to the other, and then I’ll have LOTS of water for my garden in summer! Instead of costing me around $1500 for all new equipment, it has cost about $170!! Wow! I’ll also save on $$$s for excess water and be more environmentally friendly too! Thanks, Peter for all your hard work!!
